The artist George Lee Crosby was born in New York City, April 6th, 1949.
He studied art at the University of Michigan and the Cooper Union in New York City. After
Cooper he studied privately with Henry Hensche, and the noted muralist Edward Laning.
A highly skilled realist with a modern sensibility, Crosby's influence stems from his
extensive knowledge of art history. His work draws from the vast reservoir of collective
experience, employing elements of impressionism, as well as classical realism.
Crosby has traveled extensively in his search for subject matter. His painting excursions
have taken him around the globe. Based in New York City, he divides his time between Key
West in the winter and New England in the summer.
